Given that most flange connections facilitate the passage of air or fluid through an internal aperture, blind flanges provide a structured endpoint to pipe connections, or they redirect the substance being conveyed towards another segment of the pipe configuration.
These flanges are an ideal choice when seeking a definitive endpoint for pipe connections or when anticipating potential modifications, such as the future installation of valves or fittings to redirect the flow within the pipeline.

Most blind flanges possess a straightforward structure, demanding minimal machining in comparison to other flange types, and exhibit a higher weight due to their absence of a bore. While they are usually supplied as blanks, designed to align with slip-on and weld neck flanges, there are options for custom machining. Common modifications include incorporating NPT threads at the center and creating custom bore holes to serve as hubless slip-on flanges.
Furthermore, in applications requiring higher pressure tolerance (such as API 6BX blinds), blind flanges can be equipped with elevated hubs as a standard feature.
